New Modes in Symphony of the Night

After clearing the game as Alucard for the first time, you can start special modes by entering a specific name when you select a new game.

Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood: Unlock Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night

When the minotaur chases Richter in Stage 2, immediately fall into the first hole to enter the sewers. Complete the level as usual by defeating the Boss. You will then start Stage 3', the alternate version of Stage 3. Every time your path splits in Stage 3', always select the upper route. Collect the Axe subweapon when it becomes available. Use it to cut the vine-covered cage near the skeletal snake that is attached to a wall. Jump on the cage to allow Richter to jump to the upper ledges. Continue along the upper ledges until reach a breakable tombstone that contains the item that unlocks Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night as a playable game at the main menu.

Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood: Play as Maria

When the minotaur chases Richter in Stage 2, get the Key subweapon from the candlestick. Go down into the sewers after the minotaur gets blocked by the wall. Use the Key subweapon on the locked door at end of the sewer. This will trigger an intermission sequence showing Maria joining Richter. She can now be selected as a playable character at the main menu.

Original Game

Using Maria in stage two, fall down the first pit when the behemoth is chasing you and beat the rest of the level. You will then be taken to a secret stage three. Eventually, you will come to a point that has two paths. Take the upper path and continue along. You will soon come to a point that has platforms on the top and bottom. Break the vine at the top and continue to jump on the top platforms. Break the tombstone at the end and you can play the original version of Rondo of Blood!

Unlock Akoumajou Dracula Peke

Successfully complete Normal Boss Rush mode twice to obtain two Sound Discs. Play Normal Boss Rush mode again. Defeat Shaft, then get the hidden Key subweapon from the candles in the next pre-Boss room. Equip the Key and defeat the next Boss to get the item to unlock Akoumajou Dracula Peke as a playable game at the main menu.

Unlock classic Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood

Go to Stage 4. Towards the end of the stage is an area where the lower section of a wall can be destroyed to reveal a bomb. Attack the bomb to destroy the rest of the wall. Enter the newly revealed area, go over the platforms, and kill the Axe Knights. At the end of this area is an item that unlocks the original Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood.

Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night: Start with more luck

Successfully complete the game as Alucard. Then start a new game with the name X-X!V''Q. Note: There are two apostrophes in the name. Game play will begin with 99 Luck.

Alternate Stage 5

Defeat Death in Stage 5, then go to Alternate Stage 4 and defeat Camilla.

Extra reach with Richter's whip

Attack with the whip, then tap Forward(2) immediately. Richter's whip will turn white and have a slightly longer reach. This can also be done while jumping or crouching if those buttons are also held during the Forward(2) sequence.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Cheat: Keep Alucard's Gear

To keep all of Alucard's super-powerful equipment at the beginning of Symphony of the Night, do the following. Head through the initial two areas, full of zombies and other weak foes. When you finally arrive to the third room where you encounter Shaft, enter the room and then quickly exit. If done properly, the Shaft cutscene will be bypassed, and you'll retain all of Alucard's initial super-powerful equipment. Enjoy!

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Cheat: Alucard's Luck +20

The following works for the PSP version of Symphony of the Night, just as it worked on the original PSX version. Insert your name as X-X!V"Q …this will allow you to start the game with +20 Luck for Alucard, since you start with an item that increases your Luck an incredible amount.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Cheat: The Stairs Glitch

If you're looking for a useful tip to get through Time Attack challenges, consider the following glitch. This glitch allows you to pass through walls, floors, across pits, and more. You can basically bypass everything once you fall through the floor. In order to accomplish this glitch successfully, you must first head to any staircase. Climb up to the middle of the stairs and stop. Then, walk back down to the lowest step.

From here, press down, and then quickly press backwards (pressing both simultaneously). If done properly, the character will have a foot on the stairs and another foot in or underneath or behind the floor you're trying to breach (that the stairs are connected to). When you see this, release back on the d-pad, and the character will fall completely through the floor to a glitched area underneath the stage.

If the glitch doesn't work, make sure of two things: that your character isn't facing the staircase, and that you're pressing down and backwards simultaneously. Also keep in mind that depending on where you are, the glitch may not work properly. You may get stuck and have to reset the game in certain areas. Maria is also preferable to Richter because she can jump higher and hence get out of these glitched areas more easily.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Cheat: Infinite Gold (SotN)

If you're interested in making the max amount of money in the game (999,999), try the following. Just be sure that as you attempt this, you have at least one sellable gem or jewel in your inventory, like a Diamond. It must be unequipped. You must also have access to the Sword Brothers spell (via the Sword familiar).

Now, head to the Library, and go to the location of the Librarian, the game's only merchant. Stand next to his desk and cast Sword Brothers (Down, Down-Right, Right, Up-Right, Up (for two seconds), Down-Attack). If executed correctly, you can then talk to the Librarian as the spell is being cast.

Doing this will glitch the game, allowing you to access your inventory from the Librarian's own menu. Now, remember that unequipped jewel or gem we mentioned earlier? Equip it from this menu, then go to sell that very jewel or gem. However, it won't be sold. Instead, it will duplicate 255 times in your inventory, which you can then sell to the Librarian for massive amounts of gold, including the maximum amount of gold (if you have the patience).

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (Original Castlevania X: Rondo of Blood) Cheat: Unlimited Lives and Score

To obtain an unlimited score and a lot of lives (20,000 points = 1 life), start game as Maria and get to the Clock Tower. Use the turtle spell to create a shield around you. Water ghosts will fly to you and die when hit the shield, but they will not cause you any harm. The longer you wait, the more points you'll get. Turn off your screen and come back later for lives and points.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Unlockable: Maria

If you want to unlock Maria as a playable character in Rondo of Blood, try this. Head to the second stage, and go through until you get to the area where the Minotaur enemy is chasing Richter. There will be candles for you to whip as you're being chased. Make sure to hit them all, as one of them is holding a special key, which will appear as your sub-weapon. After the Minotaur chase ends, head to the end of the nearby sewer path. There will be a locked door. The Key sub-weapon will open it. Head on through, and Maria will now be a playable character.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Unlockable: Rondo of Blood (Original)

To unlock the original Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, head to the fourth stage of the remake. As you head towards the end of the stage, you'll encounter an area where you can destroy the lower section of a wall, which will make a bomb suddenly appear. By attacking the bomb, you can blow up the rest of the wall. Head into the adjoining secret area, traverse the platforms, kill the Axe Knights, and at the end of your trek, you will find the item that will unlock the original, non-3D Rondo of Blood.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Unlockable: Symphony of the Night

To unlock the 1997 PSX classic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, you must head to the alternate version of the third stage in the 3D remake. Once there, head upward to the topmost level of the stage, where you fight a bone snake that's attached to the wall. Just left of the bone snake, hanging from the ceiling, is a green cage-like object you need to hit (Maria can easily hit it with her normal weapons, Richter may need an Axe subweapon). Hitting the green cage creates a platform that lets you jump to the upper row of platforms. Continue right along this upper row of platforms until you reach a white tomb stone. Destroy it and collect the pickup to unlock Symphony of the Night. (Note: You do NOT need to complete the stage for the unlock to take.)

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Unlockable: Alternate Stage 3

In the middle of stage two, you'll be chased by a minotaur. As soon as the chase starts, fall into the first hole in the ground and you'll drop into the sewer. Complete the stage via this sewer route and you'll unlock the alternate version of stage three. This alternate version of stage three is needed in order to unlock Symphony of the Night.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Hint: Maria's Guardian Fist

You can play as Maria in the game, but she has a special attack, the Guardian Fist, that doesn't use hearts, and does massive damage. To execute the move, press Up, then Down, and then attack.

If you want to play as Maria or Richter in Symphony of the Night, complete the game once through. Then, start a new game and name your character Maria or Richter to play as the corresponding character.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles Hint: Slightly Better Stats (SotN)

The beginning of SotN pits you against Dracula in a battle that’s theoretically impossible to lose. However, if you manage to defeat Dracula in a short time and without taking a single hit, you will begin the game with Alucard having slightly stronger statistics, including a minor boost of five hit points.
