Cheat mode

Pause in any game under their easier difficulty setting, then press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, L, R. All weapons and power-ups will be unlocked. In the Japanese version of the game, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, X, Circle.

Unlockables in Gradius IV

Gradius IV has unlockables. You must complete the following tasks and finish your game. That means if you don´t die, you won´t unlock anything, even if you have a saved game after completing the task. You should be careful too: If you load a game without a now unlocked feature, you will lose it again if you finish your game:

Boss Rush: Complete the game.

Stage Select: Complete the game.

Unlockables in Gradius III

Gradius III has unlockables. You must complete the following tasks and finish your game. That means if you don´t die, you won´t unlock anything, even if you have a saved game after completing the task. You should be careful too: If you load a game without a now unlocked feature, you will lose it again if you finish your game..

Cube Attack: Survive until level 9. It´s the cube attack from level 9.

Extra Edit: Complete the game. You will be able to choose more weapons in Extra Mode.

Extra Mode: Survive until level 9. Here you will see most of unlockables.

Gradius: Get hit by a shot of the last boss. It´s part of the first level from Gradius.

Salamander: Get hit by a shot of the last boss. It´s part of the first level from Salamander.

Stage Select: Complete the game.

Easy Final Boss (Gradius 3)

Put the ship in the middle of the screen, near the bottom. The blasts will be unable to hit you. Even better yet, this boss doesn't require you to actually damage it to a certain point, so just stay in this safe zone and it will die after 15 seconds or so.

Gradius Collection Unlockable: All Power-Ups

To unlock all power-ups (including weapons), try inserting the famous "Konami Code" while the game is paused. In case you don't know (or remember) the Konami Code, here it is: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, L, R.

Gradius Collection Hint - Save Farming
This is not necessarily an awesome cheat, but it is something that I happened to stumble upon while playing. Thus far, this code has worked for Gradius II so I imagine that it will work for all of the games.

Basically, get a few power-ups, and then save your game. After saving, load your game and you will notice that the power-ups that you earned are still there. So, if you keep doing this, you will eventually have a full arsenal.

POWER-UP CHEAT

Select any of the games included in Gradius Collection, and then during gameplay, not while the game is pause, press ^, ^, V, V, <, >, <, >, L, R.  The game must also be set on the default difficulty setting.  If you entered the code correctly, the cheat will take effect immediately.
